Introduction to the product The causes of thermostat leakage are as follows:

1. **Coolant Leakage**:
The thermostat is installed at the junction where the two circulation systems connect, which poses a risk of coolant leakage due to the presence of an interface in the water passage. Although the thermostat is equipped with sealing components, leaks can still occur.

**Solution**: First, identify the source of the leak and repair it. Then, refill the cooling system with coolant.

2. **Engine Overheating**:
If the thermostat becomes stuck in the closed position for the large circulation loop, even if the coolant temperature is sufficient to soften the paraffin, it will not open the large circulation. This prevents the coolant from dissipating heat effectively, leading to rapid engine overheating.

**Solution**: Open the hood to increase air circulation and allow the engine to cool down. Once the temperature has dropped, slightly loosen the radiator cap to release internal steam before fully opening it.

3. **Base Damage**:
In many cases, thermostat leakage is caused by a damaged base.

**Solution**: It is recommended to replace the base with a new one.

A faulty thermostat can significantly impact engine performance by preventing effective heat dissipation. This can result in elevated engine water temperatures, activation of the water temperature warning light, excessively low engine water temperatures, slow water temperature increases, increased fuel consumption, and abnormal engine noises.

 Methods for Diagnosing Thermostat Condition

1. **Visual Inspection After Engine Start**:
After starting the engine, open the filler cap of the cooling water tank and observe whether there is any water flow within the tank. If no water flow is observed, this may indicate that the thermostat is damaged or that a foreign object is obstructing the main valve.

2. **Temperature Comparison of Upper and Lower Water Pipes**:
Start the engine and wait for 3 minutes. Touch the upper and lower water pipes. If the thermostat is functioning correctly, the upper pipe should be hot while the lower pipe remains cool. When the engine water temperature reaches approximately 90°C and both pipes are hot, it indicates that the thermostat is working properly. If the temperatures of both pipes remain the same after starting the engine, the thermostat is likely faulty.

3. **Hot and Cold Water Test**:
Remove the thermostat from the vehicle and perform a hot and cold water test to observe whether it opens as the water temperature rises and ensure there is no jamming.

If the thermostat is leaking severely, it is necessary to replace it with a new one. Ensure the engine is turned off and the hood is opened before proceeding with the replacement.
