Initially, it is essential to clean the bolts and holes thoroughly and apply an appropriate amount of engine oil to the threaded sections to enhance assembly accuracy. The tightening procedure for the main bearing cap bolts consists of three stages: an initial torque of 50 N·m, followed by a second-stage torque of 86 N·m, and finally a rotational angle adjustment of 60° ± 5°, achieving a final torque value of 170 N·m. This process should be executed in sequence from the center towards both sides. For the connecting rod bolts, given their significant role in operational safety, an alternating tightening approach is recommended. The initial torque should be set at 55 N·m, with a subsequent rotational angle adjustment of 60°, resulting in a final torque of 126 N·m. To ensure precision in the tightening angle, professional tools such as angle gauges or marking techniques should be employed. In practice, however, maintenance personnel frequently encounter misconceptions regarding the tightening process. The use of outdated, uncalibrated torque wrenches and blind tightening practices can lead to excessive tightening, causing deformation of the main bearing caps and connecting rods, which may result in irreversible damage. Therefore, it is strongly advised to utilize adjustable torque wrenches that have been properly calibrated. This ensures adherence to the specified tightening requirements, prevents over-tightening or under-tightening, and ultimately guarantees the reliable operation and optimal performance of the engine.
