Electromagnetic fan clutches, by contrast, utilize electromagnetic principles to govern fan operation. In low-temperature conditions, the silicone oil remains static, causing the fan clutch to disengage and the fan to idle. As temperatures increase, the viscosity of the silicone oil rises, prompting the fan clutch to engage and the fan to rotate at higher speeds for enhanced heat dissipation.

Common Faults and Repair Methods for Fan Clutches

Common issues with fan clutches include automatic control malfunctions and silicone oil leakage. During repairs, the following considerations should be observed:

1. Ensure the fan clutch is positioned vertically during disassembly and assembly to prevent silicone oil leakage.
2. Avoid contact with the bimetallic strip and maintain its cleanliness.
3. Inspect whether the bimetallic strip has become loose; if necessary, reassemble and secure it firmly.
4. Assess the operational status of the fan by listening for appropriate sounds. A properly functioning fan clutch will produce normal operating sounds at high temperatures, whereas a malfunctioning clutch may generate significantly less noise.
