A voltage regulator is a critical device designed to maintain the generator's output voltage at a specified level. Its primary function is to ensure power supply stability by automatically adjusting the generator's output voltage. The voltage regulator achieves this by controlling the excitation current, thereby maintaining the voltage within a predefined range. This functionality is essential for protecting electrical equipment and enhancing the efficiency of the power system. Specifically, the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is tailored for use with AC brushless generators equipped with fundamental and harmonic compound excitation or permanent magnet generator excitation (PGM system). Usage and Maintenance During operation, the regulator's cover should not be removed unless necessary. Routine comprehensive inspections and maintenance should be conducted every 200 hours of operation. The inspection and maintenance procedures are as follows: 1. Remove the cover and inspect the contact surfaces for any contaminants or burn damage. If contaminants are present, they can be cleaned using a clean cloth. If the contacts exhibit erosion or unevenness leading to poor contact, they should be smoothed using fine-grit sandpaper and then cleaned with a clean cloth. 2. Verify the tightness of all connections and measure the resistance of each coil. Any damaged components should be promptly repaired or replaced. 3. Test the circuit breaker's closing voltage and reverse current, the voltage limiter's limit voltage, the current limiter's limit current, and the gap and air gap of all contacts. Adjustments should be made if these parameters do not meet specifications. 4. After completing the inspection and adjustments, observe the charging current meter when starting the diesel engine. If the current meter pointer remains in the negative range while the diesel engine operates at medium or higher speeds, it indicates that the circuit breaker contacts have not opened. The grounding switch should be immediately disconnected to prevent damage to the battery, regulator, and charging generator. If the current meter pointer remains at zero after the diesel engine reaches its rated speed, it suggests that the adjustment was not performed according to technical requirements, necessitating a recheck and readjustment. |
