The material selection of water pumps is a process involving multiple factors, including the usage environment and medium, working conditions and requirements, cost and availability, processability and reliability, etc. According to different application requirements, the materials of water pumps can be roughly divided into the following categories: Cast iron: Gray cast iron and ductile iron are common choices. Gray cast iron is commonly used in the manufacture of pump bodies, impellers, pump covers, and other components due to its excellent casting and processing properties. Ductile iron, due to its mechanical properties similar to steel, is usually used as a substitute for cast steel and is suitable for situations that require higher strength and corrosion resistance. Stainless steel: Stainless steel is the most commonly used corrosion-resistant material in chemical pumps due to its excellent corrosion resistance. Austenitic stainless steel (such as 0Cr18Ni9, 1Cr18Ni9Ti, 0Cr18Ni12Mo2Ti, etc.) and martensitic stainless steel (such as 2Cr13, 3Cr13) are commonly used choices. High alloy stainless steel (No. 20 alloy) and duplex stainless steel are also ideal corrosion resistant materials. Cast steel: Cast steel has high strength, and when the pressure is greater than 1.6Mpa, pressure bearing parts mostly use cast steel. Carbon structural steel: divided into ordinary carbon structural steel and high-quality carbon structural steel, suitable for pump shaft materials without corrosion requirements. Alloy steel : The most representative alloy steel is 40Cr, which is commonly used as a material for high-strength pump shafts. Non metallic materials, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (F46), fluororubber, nitrile rubber, etc., are mainly used for sealing and have excellent corrosion and high temperature resistance properties. Polytetrafluoroethylene is suitable for almost all chemical media within 250 ℃, while fluororubber and nitrile rubber are respectively suitable for mild and oil resistant media. |
