There are many types of sleeves, which can be divided into three types based on their structural characteristics and main insulation media: single insulation material sleeves (including pure ceramic sleeves and resin sleeves), composite insulation sleeves (including oil filled sleeves and inflatable sleeves), and capacitive sleeves (including oil paper capacitive sleeves and adhesive paper capacitive sleeves). Pure ceramic sleeves are insulated with electric porcelain and air. Due to its simple structure, it is widely used for wall bushings of 35kV and below, as well as electrical bushings of 10kV and below. To ensure sufficient creepage distance, the outdoor part of the porcelain sleeve is also equipped with edges. To prevent air corona inside the porcelain sleeve, metal coatings are often sprayed on the surface of the porcelain sleeve and the diameter of the guide rod is increased to improve the electric field distribution.
Oil filled sleeve
The sleeve is mainly insulated by filling the inner cavity of the porcelain sleeve with insulating oil and insulating barrier. A bushing filled with insulating oil only inside the porcelain sleeve, which is commonly used for voltage levels of 110kV and below. For higher voltage levels, measures such as wrapping conductive rods with insulating paper or adhesive paper tubes, or adding multiple layers of concentric cylindrical insulation barriers in the oil gap, are adopted to increase the breakdown voltage. Sometimes metal plates are also laid on the insulation barrier to evenly distribute the electric field.
Inflatable sleeve
A sleeve filled with sulfur hexafluoride gas insulation inside the porcelain sleeve. Commonly used as outlet conduit for gas insulated metal enclosed switchgear (GIS). Capacitive sleeve is mainly insulated with oil paper or adhesive tape, and is uniformly distributed with radial and axial electric fields through a capacitive screen. The electrical sleeves and wall sleeves of modern high-voltage electrical equipment are mostly capacitive sleeves. The core part of a capacitive sleeve is the capacitor core, which is a dense insulator composed of multiple layers of oil paper or adhesive paper. Metal foil electrodes are sandwiched between the insulation layers to form multiple concentric cylindrical capacitors. The diameter of the electrodes of a concentric cylindrical capacitor increases sequentially from the inside out, while their length decreases sequentially. The diameter and length of the electrodes are selected according to a certain rule to make the radial and axial electric field distribution more uniform, in order to minimize the size of the casing while meeting the electrical performance requirements. To improve the electric field distribution at the edges of metal foil electrodes, semiconductor plates or metal foil plates with semiconductor rolling edges are sometimes used.
