Norwegian offshore ship owner Sea1 Offshore returned to COSCO SHIPPING (QIDONG) OFFSHORE CO.,LTD. and ordered two new offshore energy auxiliary ships.
This is an alternative order by Sea1 Offshore for two offshore energy auxiliary ships in November last year from COSCO SHIPPING (QIDONG) OFFSHORE CO.,LTD, with a planned delivery in the second half of 2027. The specific price of the new ship has not been announced.
It is reported that the model has a length of 120 meters and is based on Skipsteknisk's ST-245 design, which will be suitable for offshore oil and gas and renewable markets. The ship will be equipped with the most energy-efficient solution currently available, with the generator, battery pack, and thruster configurations fine-tuned and utilizing the latest technology available.
This series of ships is designed with methanol-ready fuel, and the generator can use 100% biofuel, which can meet the highest requirements for global operations. The cargo deck area on board is 1400 square meters, capable of accommodating 120 people, equipped with ROV hangar and moon pool, as well as a 250-ton crane.
It is reported that Sea1 Offshore, formerly known as Siemens Offshore, was established in 2005 and has expanded its fleet through new shipbuilding and acquisitions. At present, the company's fleet consists of 34 vessels, including platform supply vessel (PSV), three purpose working vessel (AHTS), underwater construction vessel and oil well intervention vessel.
Last May, with former chairman Kristian Siemens leaving the company and selling her 35% stake, Siemens Offshore removed the prefix "Siemens" and officially changed its name to Sea1 Offshore. After Kristian Siem left, Norwegian investor Christen Sveaas took over the company.
