On May 21, 2026, the 8th China Western International Investment and Trade Fair (hereinafter referred to as "West Fair") officially opened at the Chongqing International Expo Center. Cummins Chongqing showcased its 19L methanol engine and the new QSK38 platform electronically controlled engine at this major event.
At the Chongqing Machinery & Electronics Group booth, Chongqing Cummins showcased its multi-fuel 19L methanol engine platform. The engine features intake manifold multi-point injection, a high-energy ignition system, a Miller cycle-specific camshaft, and an efficient turbocharger, enabling efficient combustion of methanol fuel and reliable cold starts at low temperatures. It achieves a thermal efficiency of up to 44.6% and can operate stably in ambient temperatures ranging from -35°C to 50°C. Key components are designed with alcohol resistance and corrosion protection to ensure high reliability and long service life. Compared to diesel engines, it reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 18%, cuts carbon emissions by about 45 tons per 1,000 operating hours, and significantly lowers emissions of NOx, PM, and CO.
At the Chongqing Pavilion in the Central Hall, the new platform electronically controlled QSK38 engine from Chongqing Cummins attracted widespread attention. Featuring a brand-new two-stage turbocharging system combined with Cummins' high-pressure common rail fuel system, this engine provides a solid foundation for efficient combustion and delivers a maximum power output of 1548 kW. Its transient response performance meets the ISO 8528 standard G3 level requirements, placing it at an advanced industry level. The product is widely used in power generation, marine, and construction machinery applications.
