Accelera, Cummins' zero-carbon business brand, Daimler Trucks & Buses USA Holdings and PACCAR announced the completion of a joint venture, to be named Amplify Cell Technologies. The strategic collaboration will drive zero-emission technologies for electric commercial vehicles and industrial applications. Amplify will begin construction of a 21 gigawatt hour (GWh) plant in Marshall County, Mississippi, with potential for further expansion as demand grows. The plant is scheduled to begin production in 2027.
Amplify Cell Technologies appointed Kel Kearns Chief Executive officer. Kearns will lead Amplify's production of differentiated lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries to create value for commercial vehicle customers in North America. Kearns has held a variety of roles in the automotive and manufacturing industries during his decades-long career, most recently overseeing large electric vehicle manufacturing operations.
Accelera, Daimler Trucks and Pekka each have a 30% stake in the joint venture. As a technology partner, Weil holds a 10% stake and provides its industry-leading battery design and manufacturing expertise to the joint venture. Weil Lithium Energy is a leading global manufacturer of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for the automotive industry.
