Local, state, and federal officials in Mississippi, USA, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Amplify Cell Technologies JV battery construction project.

The joint venture company announced the site selection as early as January. These three companies each hold a 30% stake in the joint venture, with EVE Energy, headquartered in China, holding the remaining 10% stake. EVE Energy will provide expertise in battery design and manufacturing.

The project is led by Yates Construction in the United States and requires a joint venture investment of over 2 billion US dollars, but exact financial data for the project is currently unavailable.

On a 500 acre (202 hectare) site, there will be a 2 million square foot (185806 square meter) facility with an annual production capacity of 21 gigawatt hours (GWh).

Amplify said that the new factory will produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for electric vehicles. "We chose this battery chemical material because of its durability and cost-effectiveness. This move will localize the battery supply chain, make it more robust, and meet the growing demand of the electric commercial vehicle market in North America

The battery production of this factory is expected to create 2000 manufacturing job opportunities when it opens in 2027.
