In Sarawak, Malaysia, on the blue waves, a brilliant diamond-shaped tower bridge is rising from the ground - this is the Sekinkat Bridge, jointly built by China and Malaysia. Recently, the installation of the steel beam system of the main tower of the bridge was successfully completed, marking that the biggest construction difficulty of the project has been overcome. The Sekinkat Bridge adopts the world's first double diamond-shaped cable tower design along the bridge direction. Once completed, it will become a new landmark in Malaysia and even Southeast Asia. The construction of the bridge faced the severe test of complex geological and hydrological conditions and the dual challenges of technical breakthroughs. Four Zoomlion WA7527-20 tower cranes on site overcame the influence of factors such as tides, sea winds and salt erosion, and helped the bridge grow rapidly.
Behind the elegant and complex design lies a construction challenge that can be described as dancing on the tip of a needle - the installation of the steel system beams of the bridge. The main tower of the Sekinkat Bridge is approximately 119 meters high. On each side of the main tower, four tower limbs are symmetrically distributed. The tower limbs are connected by steel beams with a dense screw anchoring system. The four sets of steel beams on the entire bridge consist of 56 segments, with the largest section weighing 17.4 tons. As the steel system beam segments are fixed in the spatial position between the tower limbs, the installation accuracy needs to be controlled within 5 millimeters, and the tower deviation accuracy also needs to be precise to the millimeter level. In addition, the anchor rods and the main tower reinforcement bars are interwoven and densely distributed, which sharply increases the construction difficulty and risk.
