Material classification
Natural rubber NR
Natural Rubber is made from latex collected from rubber trees and is a polymer of isoprene. It has good wear resistance, high elasticity, tensile strength, and elongation. It is prone to aging in the air, becomes sticky when exposed to heat, expands and dissolves easily in mineral oil or gasoline, and is alkali resistant but not strong acid resistant· It is a raw material for making adhesive tape, hoses, and rubber shoes, and is suitable for making shock absorption parts and products used in liquids with hydroxide ions such as automotive brake oil and ethanol.
Styrene butadiene rubber S B R
Styrene Butadiene Copolyme is a copolymer of butadiene and styrene. Compared with natural rubber, it has a uniform quality, fewer foreign objects, but weaker mechanical strength, and can be mixed with natural rubber for use.
Advantages:
·Low cost non oil resistant materials
·Good water resistance, hardness below 70, with good elasticity
·Poor compression distortion at high hardness
·Can use most neutral chemicals and dry, nourishing organic ketones
Disadvantages:
·It is not recommended to use strong acids, ozone, oils, esters, fats, and most hydrocarbons· Widely used in the tire industry, footwear industry, and? Fabric and conveyor belt industries, etc.
Butyl rubber IIR
Butyl rubber is polymerized from isobutene and a small amount of isoprene, retaining a small amount of unsaturated groups for sulfur addition. Due to the steric hindrance of methyl groups, the movement of molecules is less than other polymers, resulting in less gas permeability, high resistance to heat, sunlight, and ozone, and good electrical insulation; It has strong resistance to polar solvents such as alcohols, ketones, esters, etc., and is generally used in the temperature range of -54~110 ℃.
Advantages:
·Impermeability to most general gases
·Has good resistance to sunlight and ozone

EPDM ethylene propylene adhesive
Ethylene propylene rubber is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene, with a main chain that is not double stranded. Therefore, it has excellent heat resistance, aging resistance, ozone resistance, and stability, but cannot be sulfurized. To solve this problem, a small amount of the third component with double chains can be introduced into the EP main chain and sulfur can be added to form EPDM, which is generally used in the temperature range of -50~150 ℃. Excellent resistance to polar solvents such as alcohols, ketones, ethylene glycol, and phosphate hydraulic oils.
Advantages:
·Has good weather resistance and ozone resistance
·Excellent water resistance and chemical resistance
·Alcohols and ketones can be used

·The seal in the radiator (car radiator).
Nitrile rubber NBR
Nitrile rubber is formed by copolymerization of acrylonitrile and butadiene, with an acrylonitrile content ranging from 18% to 50%. The higher the acrylonitrile content, the better the resistance to petrochemical oil and hydrocarbon fuel oil. However, its low-temperature performance deteriorates, and it is generally used in the temperature range of -25~100 ℃. Nitrile rubber is one of the most commonly used rubbers for oil seals and O-rings.
Advantages:
·Has good properties of oil resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, and resistance to high-pressure oil.
·Has good compression deflection, wear resistance, and elongation.
Disadvantages:
·Not suitable for use in polar solvents such as ketones, ozone, nitrohydrocarbons, MEK, and chloroform· Used to make rubber parts, especially sealing parts, for fuel tanks, lubricating oil tanks, and fluid media such as petroleum hydraulic oil, gasoline, water, silicone grease, silicone oil, diester lubricating oil, and ethylene glycol hydraulic oil. It can be said that it is the most widely used and cost-effective rubber seal.
Chloroprene rubber CR
Neoprene and Polychromoprene are polymerized from chloroprene monomers. The vulcanized rubber has good elasticity and wear resistance, is not afraid of direct sunlight exposure, has particularly good resistance to atmospheric aging, is not afraid of intense distortion, is not afraid of refrigerants such as dichlorodifluoromethane and ammonia, is resistant to dilute acid and silicone ester lubricating oil, but not phosphate ester hydraulic oil. Easy to crystallize and harden at low temperatures, with poor storage stability, and large expansion in mineral oils with low aniline points. The general temperature range for use is -50~150 ℃
Advantages:
·Good elasticity and good compression deformation.
·The formula does not contain sulfur, making it very easy to make
·Has anti animal and vegetable oil properties
·Not affected by neutral chemicals, esters, fats, various oils, solvents, etc
·Has flame retardant properties
Disadvantages:
·It is not recommended to use chemicals such as strong acids, nitrohydrocarbons, esters, chloroform, and ketones· Seals resistant to R12 refrigerant· Rubber parts or seals on household appliances.
·Suitable for making various parts that come into direct contact with the atmosphere, sunlight, and ozone.
·Suitable for various rubber products that are resistant to combustion and chemical corrosion.
Chlorosulfonated polyethylene adhesive
Chlorosulfonated polyethylene is a synthetic rubber patented by DuPont. Excellent heat resistance, weather resistance, and ozone resistance; It also has good acid resistance and is commonly used in areas with oxidizing drugs (nitric acid, sulfuric acid). The general temperature range for use is -45~120 ℃.
Advantages:
·Has good resistance to ozone, oxidation, and flames
·The physical properties are similar to chloroprene rubber and it has better acid resistance
·Excellent abrasion resistance
·Having the same low friction surface as nitrile rubber
