In 2025, some good news was reported in the market of diesel internal combustion engines for construction machinery.
In June, the sales of diesel internal combustion engines for construction machinery reached 67,300 units, showing a month-on-month growth of 5.45% compared to May. Although it slightly decreased by 0.60% compared to the previous year, the overall situation remained stable.
From January to June 2025, the cumulative sales of diesel internal combustion engines for construction machinery reached 454,600 units, with a year-on-year growth of 1.22%.
In June, the sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for non-road use were 66,200 units, showing a month-on-month growth of 4.08% and a year-on-year growth of 1.75%.
From January to June, the cumulative sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for non-road use were 446,900 units, with a year-on-year growth of 2.31%. The momentum did not wane. What is more noteworthy is that the market concentration of multi-cylinder diesel engines is extremely high, with the top ten brands accounting for 96.10% of the sales; among them, Dongfeng Cummins maintained the first place in non-road engine sales among all joint ventures.
As a joint venture, Dongfeng Cummins has performed exceptionally well. In May 2025, the total sales volume of Dongfeng Cummins engines reached nearly 18,000 units, with a year-on-year growth of 20.23%; the total output in the first five months exceeded 90,000 units, with a total output value of 4.73 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%.
It is known that since 2024, in the entire portfolio of Dongfeng Cummins, the sales volume of non-road engines has exceeded 50%.
As a designated unit for the national intelligent manufacturing demonstration factory, Dongfeng Cummins has been advancing rapidly on the path of digital transformation. In the smart logistics project, the application of AGV for material distribution has enabled an automatic delivery rate of 85%; the flexible production line can produce one engine every 3 minutes, efficiently meeting the customized needs of customers.
Outside the domestic market, as Chinese construction machinery manufacturers are vigorously expanding their overseas operations, Dongfeng Cummins has also become an important partner for local OEMs. In the future, together with the OEMs, Dongfeng Cummins will continue to deeply expand markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other Belt and Road regions.
