New Wheel Loader Market

According to Fusable's EDA equipment financing data, the demand for new wheel loaders will increase year-on-year from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024. During this period, the sales volume of new wheel loaders purchased through financing increased by 9.8%, reaching 11259 units. Caterpillar (21.6%), Deere (19.8%), and Komatsu (13.4%) still dominate the top three markets for financing new loader sales. The best-selling models include Komatsu WA320-8, Komatsu WA270-8, and Volvo L90H.

During this period, Texas had the highest number of new loader purchases, with a total of 1043 buyers, followed closely by Florida (990) and Illinois (749). In contrast, the sales of second-hand wheel loaders purchased through financing decreased by 4%, with a total of 7465 units sold from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024. In the second-hand market, Caterpillar (28.6%), Deere (22.7%), and Case (14.7%) continue to dominate sales. We found during data analysis that the best-selling models are the Case 321F, Komatsu WA270-8, and Caterpillar 926M.

The main states for purchasing second-hand loaders are Texas (648 units), New York (371 units), and Michigan (350 units). EDA's data is based on UCC-1 filings submitted by each state for financing construction equipment, and the data is continuously updated based on information from each state.

 

Second hand wheel loader market

According to Fusable's EquipmentWatch market trend data, the price of used wheel loaders continued to rise from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024, with a growth rate of 6.6% over a 12-month period. In July 2023, the average price of second-hand wheel loaders was $146127, while in July 2024 it rose to $155704. Meanwhile, the average service life of second-hand loaders has slightly decreased, from 8.04 years to 7.6 years.

These average ages and prices were calculated based on 226885 resale records in the EquipmentWatch database. Over the past 12 months, the prices of used loaders in the United States have shown an overall upward trend, with the largest increases occurring in October 2023 (4.5%) and July 2024 (5.4%). EquipmentWatch defines Fair Market Value (FMV) as the monetary value of an asset that can be obtained by the seller and buyer in a buy sell transaction without any mandatory or time constraints. For heavy equipment, FMVs are usually closely associated with private resale markets rather than public auction markets.

 

Auction price of wheel loader

Among the top 20 wheel loaders auctioned between August 1, 2023 and July 31, 2024, Caterpillar held 15 seats in the top 20 high priced auctions, while Deere, Komatsu, and Volvo held the remaining positions. According to the EquipmentWatch auction price guide, the highest auction price during this period was $645000 for the Caterpillar 982XE (876 hours of operation), which was sold at the Ritchie Bros. auction in Minot, North Dakota on April 25, 2024.
