On September 1st local time, Zoomlion crane successfully completed the lifting task of the 100th wind turbine in the 600 MW mountain wind power project in Mengsong, Laos, laying a solid foundation for subsequent grid connection delivery.
The Mengsong Wind Power Project is located in the southern province of Sekong, Laos. The local climate is humid and rainy, and the construction site has steep terrain. The transportation roads and terrain are complex, and the lifting platform space is limited. Various unfavorable conditions pose great challenges to the transportation and lifting of wind turbines.
Faced with the complex and ever-changing natural environment, the project team deployed and planned ahead, formulated response measures, optimized lifting plans, arranged processes reasonably, and strengthened process acceptance based on the impact of different working conditions during the wind and rainy seasons on wind turbine lifting. Through strengthening refined management, the impact of adverse weather on construction was minimized to ensure project progress and quality, and 100 wind turbines were successfully lifted within 10 months.
The Mengsong Wind Power Project in Laos is the first wind power project in Laos and also the largest single wind power project in Southeast Asia. The total planned installed capacity is 600MW. The main content of the project includes 133 wind turbines with a single capacity of 4.5 megawatts, 5 supporting booster stations, and 500 kV transmission lines.
The successful hoisting of 100 wind turbines is an important milestone in the project engineering. It is reported that after the project is fully completed, the annual power generation will be about 1.72 billion kilowatt hours, and it is expected to achieve a carbon reduction of 35 million tons during its lifecycle. Effectively alleviate the electricity shortage in Southeast Asia and provide new green momentum for the socio-economic development of Laos. In the future, Zoomlion will continue to deeply cultivate overseas markets and provide solid equipment support for global new energy construction.
