On August 26, 2026, Cummins East Asia Research and Development Center celebrated its 20th anniversary in Wuhan. Jonathan Wood, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Cummins; Stephen Saxby, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Cummins China; Wang Kaijun, Vice President and General Manager of the Engine Business Unit for Cummins China; along with leaders from various business lines and joint ventures, partners, and media representatives gathered to mark this significant milestone.
Over the past two decades, the Cummins East Asia R&D Center has remained deeply rooted in the Chinese market, collaborating closely with industry partners to co-create and co-develop advanced powertrain technologies that continuously upgrade industries such as commercial vehicles, construction machinery, heavy equipment, and power generation. Today, guided by the principle of In China, For the World, the center has grown into Cummins' largest research facility outside North America and a key innovation hub within its global R&D network. It now undertakes an increasing number of global project development initiatives and consistently delivers innovative solutions from China to customers worldwide.

Since its establishment in 2006, the East Asia R&D Center has evolved in step with the Chinese market. From initially introducing global cutting-edge technologies, to pioneering the FFM (Fit for Market) philosophy, and later innovatively launching the FFA (Fit for Application) strategy, the center has consistently focused on customer needs and real-world application scenarios. By partnering with Chinese OEMs and supply chain allies, it has achieved remarkable progress, from Tier II to Tier VI emissions standards for on-road vehicles, and from Tier II to Tier IV for off-road products, driving technological upgrades across China's commercial vehicle and construction machinery sectors and empowering high-quality industry growth.
