In the 1970s, large-scale earthwork projects in domestic mines, road construction, water conservancy, and defense engineering continued to advance, making the demand for large-scale equipment increasingly urgent. However, large-tonnage loaders were long monopolized by international brands, and there was almost no domestic presence in this field.

In 1975, the First Machinery Industry Ministry assigned Liu Gong the task of developing the largest loader in China at that time. After ten months of continuous hard work, they overcame numerous technical hurdles and in 1976, the ZL90 wheeled loader was born in Liu Gong, filling the technical gap in large-tonnage loaders in China. From then on, Liu Gong resolutely embarked on a path of continuous large-scale breakthroughs in independent research and development.
Breaking through and establishing the foundation of industry large-scale development
The extreme requirements of heavy-load working conditions for equipment's bearing capacity and durability drive Liu Gong to constantly challenge large-scale. The large-scale gene has been passed down through generations of product iterations:
▪️ In 1976, China's largest wheeled loader at that time, ZL90, was put into production and won the "National Science Conference Award", breaking the long-term monopoly of large-scale loaders by foreign brands and announcing that China had the ability to independently develop large-scale equipment;

▪️ In 1999, the ZL100C wheeled loader was put into production, filling the technical gap of 10-ton large-scale loaders in China;

▪️ In 2008, the CLG899III large-scale wheeled loader was put into production, with a maximum loading capacity of up to 12 tons, and won the "2008 China Construction Machinery Annual Product TOP50" award;

▪️ In 2014, the CLG8128H loader was put into production, independently developed by Liu Gong, with complete independent intellectual property rights, specifically designed for global mining users, representing the leading technical level of China's large-scale loader research and manufacturing at that time;

▪️ In 2023, the 8250H hybrid loader was put into production, achieving multiple high-end technological breakthroughs, and it was Liu Gong's first 100-ton special large-scale hybrid mining loader.

▪️ In 2026, the 8250TE permanent magnet hybrid mining loader was released, and in July of the same year, the first one was delivered to an African mine.
Looking back on this history, it was through Liu Gong's continuous "large-scale" breakthroughs that the development of the domestic large-scale loader industry was laid. It was also this six decades of deepening large-scale technology research and development that accumulated sufficient confidence for Liu Gong to enter the global high-end mining market.
Persisting for a long time
Continuously deepening the large-scale technology layout
Liu Gong gradually formed a systematic reserve covering heavy-load structural design, high-power transmission matching, and multi-scenario heat dissipation management, and established a "on-site feedback - technical research - product verification" research loop.
The R&D team continuously tracked the actual performance of the equipment in the mining field, transformed the operation data and operation feedback into specific improvement items, and rapidly iterated in the next generation of products to ensure that each technological upgrade originated from real needs rather than laboratory-based closed-door research.
At the same time, Liu Gong built a whole-machine testing system that exceeded industry standards and covered all scenarios of work. The high-temperature and low-temperature laboratory of Liu Gong's global R&D center can simulate -50℃ to 60℃ environments. Large-scale loaders undergo cold start, low-temperature steering performance, low-temperature oil return back pressure, low-temperature air conditioning performance, whole vehicle deicing and dehumidification performance, and other tests in this environment to ensure that the equipment maintains stable performance output, attendance rate, and service life in various extreme mining scenarios worldwide.
The 60-year continuous focus on large-scale technology strategy has enabled Liugong loaders to accumulate irreplaceable core competitiveness in the large-scale field, laying an unshakable foundation for the subsequent full-scale explosion of Liugong's pure electric and hybrid large-scale loaders.
Iterative advancement
Leading large-scale technology into the era of electrification
8110TE
Pure electric flagship, benchmark for large-scale heavy-duty electrification
The 8110TE is a pure electric flagship model developed by Liugong specifically for high-end heavy-duty working conditions. Different from the industry-standard modified electric solutions, the 8110TE redefines the power logic and energy strategy of heavy-duty electrical equipment at the core architecture level, and is equipped with a dual permanent magnet synchronous motor electronic control system. It has powerful power and breaks the industry perception that "electric equipment cannot handle heavy work".
Currently, the 8110TE is in high demand both domestically and internationally, covering heavy-duty working conditions such as ports, mines, and tunnels.

8128TE-WD wheeled bulldozer
New product for mines, expanding the boundaries of mine operations
By the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2025, feedback from domestic and international large-scale mining markets indicated a pressing need for 50-ton wheeled bulldozers. Liugong quickly integrated cross-product line R&D resources and completed the investigation of working conditions to the production of prototypes at the fastest speed.
As a practical product of Liugong's "one platform, multiple scenarios" R&D concept, 8128TE-WD directly inherits the core platform technology of Liugong's large loaders over the past decades and has made special adaptations for mining push and leveling work conditions.

Unlike traditional crawler bulldozers, 8128TE-WD simplifies the power chain design and adopts four-wheel independent electric transmission technology, completely eliminating the torque converter, gearbox, and traditional drive axle. It has a faster transfer speed and higher operational efficiency, and is particularly prominent in maintenance work on frequently moving mining roads.
8128TE-WD fills the key gap in Liugong's mining complete equipment in the "pushing and leveling" section, extending the product boundaries of Liugong's large equipment from loaders to broader mining operation scenarios.
8250TE
A new large-scale hybrid product, the world's largest permanent magnet hybrid loader
8250TE is an industry-breaking, benchmark product for large-tonnage hybrid machines, surpassing multiple core technologies that were previously unexplored. The R&D team has been stationed at the testing frontlines and deeply studied extreme mining site conditions. After thousands of iterations of parameters and verification of working conditions, they successfully overcame core technical challenges such as high-power hybrid coordination control and intelligent energy dynamic management. They innovatively developed a dedicated distributed wheel hub drive solution, increasing the overall transmission efficiency to 80%, the kinetic energy recovery rate to over 90%, and the service life to up to 60,000 hours.

The successful mass production of 8250TE has filled the industry's gap in large-tonnage permanent magnet hybrid equipment application on a large scale, fully demonstrating Liugong's innovative leadership in high-end new energy equipment.
Liugong has achieved a transformation from a single large-scale loader to a product cluster of green heavy-duty mining equipment. This is not only the concentrated eruption of Liugong's loading machine's 60-year technical heritage in the heavy mining scenarios, but also marks that Liugong has the confidence and strength to truly compete with international giants in the field of mining complete equipment.
Looking back over 60 years, the path of large-scale development is a microcosm of Liugong's self-improvement and technology leadership. It is also a vivid footnote of China's loading machine industry moving from a technological blank in large-scale development to a complete system.
