Cummins' share is nearly 20%!

In October, domestic natural gas heavy-duty trucks sold 21,100 units, a year-on-year increase of nearly 1.4 times, achieving a doubling growth for two consecutive months. After October, the cumulative sales of natural gas heavy-duty trucks in 2025 reached 166,800 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 6%. Compared with the period from January to October last year, the net increase was approximately 9,500 units. Even after September, the net decrease was still 3,000 units.

The 12-13L models account for the largest proportion, while the models with over 600 horsepower made up nearly 20% in October

According to the terminal sales data, in October 2025, 21,100 units of natural gas heavy-duty truck engines were sold, representing a year-on-year growth of 138%. From January to October this year, the cumulative sales of natural gas heavy-duty truck engines reached 166,800 units, with a year-on-year growth of 6%. The cumulative sales growth rate has turned positive (with a cumulative decline of 2% since September).

In terms of displacement, from January to October 2025, the main displacement ranges of gas heavy-duty truck engines will be 12-13L and 14-15L, accounting for 43.27% and 39.63% respectively. Large-displacement gas engines with a displacement of over 15L will account for 4.17% (with a proportion of 5.48% in October). Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of 14-15L models in the gas heavy-duty truck engine market has decreased, while the proportion of other displacement models has increased to varying degrees (as shown in the following figure).

By horsepower range, from January to October 2025, the main horsepower ranges of gas heavy-duty truck engines will be 500-600 horsepower and 400-500 horsepower, accounting for 43.82% and 37.58% respectively. The proportion of ultra-high horsepower (≥600 horsepower) models reached 16.36% (the proportion in each of the recent August to October months exceeded 18%, reaching 18.06%, 18.24% and 19.37% respectively). Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of ultra-high-horsepower models has increased by nearly 14 percentage points, while the proportions of models in the 400-500 horsepower and 500-600 horsepower segments have both decreased (as shown in the following chart).

Weichai has achieved a "10 consecutive championships" with a monthly market share exceeding 50%, and its monthly ranking has remained unchanged for three consecutive months

In October 2025, five enterprises in the gas heavy-duty truck engine market continued to sell over 1,000 units. Among them, Weichai sold 11,000 units and maintained its top position on the monthly sales chart of gas heavy-duty truck engines with a significant lead, holding a monthly share as high as 52.00%. This is the 10th consecutive month that Weichai has topped the monthly sales chart of gas heavy-duty truck engines in 2025. Cummins (Foton Cummins + Dongfeng Cummins) sold a total of 4,040 units, ranking second with a monthly share of 19.15%. Jiefang sold 2,655 units, ranking third, with a monthly share of 12.58%. Yuchai and Dongfeng Longqing ranked 4th and 5th on the monthly chart, selling 1,755 and 1,592 units respectively. Their monthly market shares were 8.32% and 7.55% respectively. The sales of other enterprises were all less than 100 units, and their monthly market shares were all less than 0.5%.

 

Compared with last month, the ranking of enterprises in the gas heavy-duty truck power market remains exactly the same. This situation where the ranking has remained unchanged has persisted for three months.

From January to October 2025, the cumulative sales of gas heavy-duty truck engines reached 166,800 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 6%. The cumulative sales growth rate turned positive, approximately 9,500 units more than the cumulative sales from January to October last year. It is worth noting that this figure still saw a net decrease of 16,700 units after August, which clearly shows the heat of the gas truck and gas truck power market in September and October recently.

As of October, only 8 enterprises have achieved sales in the gas heavy-duty truck engine market in 2025 (the actual number is 9, with Cummins' sales coming from Foton Cummins and Dongfeng Cummins). The cumulative sales of these 8 enterprises from January to October this year have both increased and decreased (6 have increased and 2 have decreased). Cummins, Jiefang, Yuchai, Dongfeng Longqing, Sinotruk and Halin saw year-on-year growth of 4%, 14%, 90%, 196%, 1% and 400% respectively. Among them, Cummins entered the upward range after October. Among the two companies that declined, one saw a double-digit drop. The company with the most severe decline saw its cumulative sales from January to October this year decrease by 52% year-on-year.

In terms of cumulative market share, from January to October this year, three enterprises have a market share exceeding 10% in the natural gas heavy-duty truck engine market. Weichai, ranking first, has sold 86,600 units cumulatively, with a market share of over 50%, reaching 51.93%. Cummins (Foton Cummins and Dongfeng Cummins) sold a total of 32,800 units, with a market share of 19.66%. From January to October, Jiefang's cumulative sales also exceeded 20,000 units, reaching 20,900 units, with a market share of 12.56%, an increase of 0.84 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Yuchai and Dongfeng Longqing ranked 4th and 5th respectively. Their cumulative sales both exceeded 12,000 units after October, reaching 12,800 units and 12,200 units respectively. Their market shares were 7.70% and 7.32% respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the market shares of the two enterprises increased by 3.39 percentage points and 4.70 percentage points respectively. The cumulative sales of other enterprises are all less than 1,000 units, and their market shares are all less than 1%.

With the natural gas heavy-duty truck market achieving consecutive doubling growth in September and October, the market for gas heavy-duty truck engines entered an upward trend after October, selling approximately 9,500 more units compared to the same period last year. At present, there is no doubt that the market for gas-fired heavy-duty trucks and gas-fired heavy-duty truck engines will end this year with growth
