On September 23rd, at the China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines and Mining Machines Exhibition (BICES 2025), Cummins officially launched a new low-carbon power solution for the non-road market, including a new generation of intelligent hydraulic matching control systems for excavator, 3.9L-15L hybrid power systems, and 19L methanol industrial engines. With innovative technologies, Cummins aims to empower the Chinese construction machinery industry and build a sustainable local industry ecosystem.

 

Meanwhile, Cummins continues to promote customized services to meet the demands of the Chinese market. In response to the core needs of local mining customers for efficiency, cost, and reliability, Cummins has achieved full-process localization from R&D, design, and innovation of high-power products in China, as well as from component supply to service support. Cummins has comprehensively showcased the latest progress in the domesticization of its entire range of mining power solutions, covering engine displacements from 19L to 60L, and power ranges from 600 to 3000 hp. These solutions meet the emission standards of National III Emission Standard and National Ⅳ Emission Standard in China, and the second to fifth stages of emissions in Europe and the United States. Cummins products are the main players in regions with strict, slack, or even no emission regulations.

 

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Cummins' presence in China. Intelligent Hybrid System

Cummins 3.9L to 15L engines have all been developed for hybridization, including forms such as range extending, P1, P2 + P2.5. Different applications such as excavators, loaders, mining trucks, rotary drilling rigs, and front-end loaders are provided with differentiated architectures to achieve "engine + motor + battery" deep control integration. The system's fuel economy is improved by 10% - 30%, and the battery life is extended by more than 20%. It offers continuous, efficient, and low-emission power options for harsh environments such as high altitudes, cold regions, and heavy loads.

What is particularly noteworthy is that the new generation of hydraulic matching intelligent control system for excavators has been developed to meet the dynamic power requirements of excavators. Through active interaction and coordinated control between the engine and the hydraulic system, it achieves an energy efficiency improvement of over 10%.

New methanol powere

Cummins has released the industrial version of the 19L methanol engine developed and manufactured by Chongqing Cummins. This is a significant breakthrough in the multi-fuel engine platform in terms of displacement and fuel selection. This product adopts the intake manifold multi-point injection and spark plug ignition technology route. Using ordinary methanol, the carbon dioxide emissions are relatively 18% lower than those of diesel engines. Using green methanol can achieve zero carbon emissions.

The 500kW continuous power capacity is compatible with 135T-160T wide-body mining trucks or 130-160T large excavators, and can be extended to applications such as power generation and ships. It has the following main performance advantages:

Innovative cold start technology solution, enabling stable operation at environmental temperatures ranging from -35℃ to 50℃;

Outstanding altitude capability, maintaining torque without reduction at 3000m;

Oil filter maintenance cycle of 500 hours, with low maintenance costs;

Innovative turbocharger, fuel system and valve train technologies: The new methanol application turbocharger is optimized to enhance corrosion resistance based on fuel characteristics, meeting low-carbon requirements. The high-horsepower turbocharger offers multiple technical options, expanding the application scenarios of construction machinery. The large-flow injector adopts multiple innovative technologies to achieve precise fuel supply, significantly improving the efficiency and reliability of the engine. The high-horsepower oil pump provides multiple stroke options and a straight-piston oil lubrication design, enhancing the adaptability and durability of non-road applications. The high-power braking technology increases the braking power by 30%-50%, improving the braking safety of mining trucks while reducing brake wear and maintenance requirements. The fuel consumption rate of the locally produced high-power engines was reduced by an average of 10% compared to conventional models. By upgrading the filter material and designing the filtration system in accordance with the mining environment, with long-lasting split centrifugal filter,the average maintenance cycle reached 1,000 hours, enhancing the product's differentiation competitive advantage while helping the host vehicle manufacturers enhance their international competitiveness.
