The reliable driving force for "entering the deep earth" - the first diesel generator set for deep well drilling in Asia, is manufactured by a company in Jinan! This enterprise is China Petroleum Group Jichai Power Co., Ltd.
At around 5 pm on August 15th, the reporter followed the Jichai Power Enterprise Open Day interview team and drove for more than 3 hours to arrive at the drilling site of the "Deep Takko 1 Well" located in the hinterland of the Taklamakan Desert. Although it was almost evening, the sun was scorching high and scorching, and the surrounding area was a desert that had been barren for hundreds of years, with dried poplar trees everywhere.
On one side of the white slab house of the drilling operation tower, which is about 100 meters high, 8 diesel generator sets manufactured by Jichai Power are neatly arranged, of which 5 are running for power supply. Approaching the crew, you will hear a loud rumbling sound with extremely high frequency, which is best described as "deafening".
According to Wang Chong, a technician at Jichai Power, the drilling site is equipped with seven 175 series 1200 kW diesel generator sets, which are the main power source of the electric drilling rig, and one 600 kW diesel generator set as an auxiliary power source for drilling. One 175 unit, weighing 35 tons, can be lifted and powered within one day of entering the site, and it takes less than 10 minutes to start generating electricity. In early May 2023, they entered the site and 8 units were installed that month, ensuring timely drilling. Wang Chong and his colleague Du Yantao have been on duty at the drilling site for a long time, inspecting the unit 24 hours a day and responding promptly in case of emergencies.
The "Deep Earth Taco 1 Well" will start drilling on May 30, 2023. It is the first scientific exploration well in China with a designed depth of over 10000 meters, and is responsible for two major missions: scientific exploration and oil and gas discovery. This ultra deep scientific drilling project has no experience to learn from, and is an extreme challenge involving multiple difficulties. The complex working conditions of ultra-high temperature, ultra-high pressure, and ultra-high wellbore load have posed unprecedented difficulty requirements for power products. The generator set equipped by Jichai Power for this national key project has been running steadily and reliably since May 30th last year, especially providing essential power support for the breakthrough stage after drilling entered 8000 meters.
In order to ensure energy security, before drilling, Jichai Power firmly grasped the technical key point of reliable and stable engine core components, repeatedly evaluated the combustion and fuel systems of Unit 175, fully absorbed user feedback, and specially improved and optimized the ventilation of the unit room according to the requirements of the application site climate environment and working conditions, strictly controlling the quality of processing and assembly.
The reporter also noticed that there is a couplet on both sides of the gate pillars at the entrance of the drilling site: "A thousand miles of sand sea creates a great country's depth, and a thousand meters of underground palace captures oil dragons and tigers. This should be posted by the on-site construction personnel before the Spring Festival in 2024. Although it has been exposed to wind and sun for more than half a year, with a slight whitening in the bright red and yellow, it still appears very eye-catching in the depths of the desert.
