In the past month, the employees of Shanghai Frega Filter Co., Ltd., Quanbin, have been enjoying themselves every day. Before leaving work, they use the shower in the rest room to take a shower and clean up the accumulated dust caused by maintenance equipment. Compared to the previous situation where only simple cleaning was possible, the working environment and sense of happiness have greatly improved.
Quanbin is a maintenance worker at Frega Company, responsible for daily equipment maintenance, emergency repairs, and other work. Nowadays, the newly built employee lounge in the company is helping him bid farewell to his "disheveled" work schedule. As a manufacturer engaged in the production of automotive and engine filter products, Shanghai Frega Filter Co., Ltd., located in Gaoxing Town, Pudong, currently has more than 420 employees, including more than 250 frontline workers. This year, the company has established a dedicated work leadership group, led by Luo Yun'an, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Trade Union, to coordinate the Party Mass Work Department, Shanghai Factory, Human Resources Department, HSE and other departments, and to create a "zero distance" workplace rest room for frontline workers in the factory, becoming the most beloved "lucky spot" for employees to go during rest.
"In the past, we opened up rest areas for employees within the production area, but the noise on site was noisy and not suitable for long-term rest. Some employees would also rest in cafeterias and other places, but relatively far away." Yang Zhanjie, the production manager of the company, introduced that at the beginning of the construction of the rest room in the workshop, "site selection" became the most important topic of this work. After several considerations and negotiations, the company finally took out a 150 square meter "golden area" originally planned for administrative office in the factory as the location for a lounge. The rest room of the workshop is located within the company's factory building, and the construction of the independent room can isolate external production noise. At the same time, less than 50 meters away from the core production area, the nearest production department employee can walk 3 steps into the lounge, which can be described as "zero distance".
Entering the rest room of the workshop, you will find a clear internal area, which includes a multifunctional comprehensive (display) area, a reading area (energy gas station), a living area (tea bar, rest area, changing area), and an activity area (employee activity room). The supporting facilities are also close to the needs of employees, such as a microwave for hot meals for employees, a table tennis and billiards table for leisure and entertainment for employees, and a lounge chair and massage chair for employees to rest. The setting and improvement of these functions are all based on feedback needs from employees, so after the lounge is built, employees are particularly grateful to the union. "For example, in the massage chairs in the rest area, we originally placed some lounge chairs, but some employees gave feedback that they wanted massage chairs to relieve physical fatigue. After installation, we used them frequently, and in order to facilitate everyone's use of the foot massage function, we also added a shoe cover machine to enhance everyone's user experience in terms of details."
In the restroom of this workshop lounge, there are shower rooms and small washing machines for employees to use, and the source of this function is a proposal from the team where all guests belong. Originally, the team where Quan Bin worked was engaged in handling abnormal equipment, product replacement and debugging all year round. It was common for dust to accumulate on his face and body. According to the maintenance plan, there is once a week, and if there is an emergency maintenance, his body may get dirty every day. In the past, team members could only simply wipe and clean in the bathroom after work, but the effect was not satisfactory. Therefore, when soliciting opinions in the break room, team members submitted a suggestion to improve the situation. In the end, this suggestion was presented to them in a pleasantly surprised manner in the restroom. "Not only does it have an independent shower room, but it is also equipped with a washing machine, and dirty work clothes can be cleaned in a timely manner." This shower room has become one of the most frequently used functions in his workspace lounge. "I also use a lot of billiards and table tennis in the activity room, and can play two games with colleagues after work, which is very convenient."
The rest room of the Frey processing room is open to employees 24 hours a day, jointly managed by the company's labor union and the Shanghai factory, with dedicated personnel responsible and implementing a rotating management system. Since being put into use for more than a month, "New Home" has become a fortunate new battlefield for employees to rest, and a series of cultural and sports activities that are popular among employees have been carried out. For example, frontline employees have jointly designed and produced team cultural walls, organized reading and sharing activities, and interactive exercises, serving more than 300 employees in total.
